Gerd paints predominantly landscapes and seascapes in water colour and acrylic but has on occasion done some still life. He wants his paintings to “speak” to the viewer by having the viewer “feel” the environment shown in the painting rather than just reproduce a scene.
Inspiration for his work and style has come from Henry Vyfvinkel, Zoltan Szabo and Tom Thomson.
Gerd’s paintings can be found in private collections in five provinces, in Florida and Scotland. He has had shows at the Brockville Public Library on several occasions, hangings at the 1000 Island B&B, and regularly shows at the Brockville Artists’ Studio annual show and sale at the Memorial Centre.
